Akercocke

[Astral Poetry]

Has anyone heard of the English band Akercocke. They are black/death with a tinge of the "humor" of CoF (they aren't sellouts though). Their music has a rather uncomfortable feel to it which is perfect as that is what they set out for. Anyway, I'd like to know others opinions on the band.

I actually think that the vocals are quite original. Instead of your average low, gutteral sounds you have the lead singer sounding like a lion being raped. hehe, i like that analogy

I LOVE Akercocke, its really unsettling and EVIL sounding

a lot of the incomprehensible vocals just add to the atmosphere. I can't wait for their new album. While some find wearing suits is un BM-ish its a nice break from all those annoying corpsepaint "WE ARE TRUE BLACK METAL" bands with no talent or artistic ambition, who are just content to rip off BAthory and Darkthrone with every riff and word they write (don't get me wrong, i love Bathory and Darkthrone, its the horde of clones and ripoffs i can't stand). Finally i'd like to piss off even more black metal fans by stating that "corpsepaint" is not evil, fucking Kiss had "corpsepaint" back in the 70's for shit's sake! and there's nothing evil about Kiss (well....except for paul stanley)

Apparently my face appears in the photo collage that's part of the Goat of Mendes artwork. I'm kind of online pals with Theobalds (I knew him before Akercocke got big, damnit!) and I guess this was his way of saying "thanks".

They have a very unique sound and they are quite original. However, their stuff needs a bit of growing on. I like the video for Infernal Rites. Fucking wicked!

Anyway, not among my top 5 (or even top 10) Black Metal bands, but they are a decent band.

I like them! Have two albums..Goat Of Mendes was probaly my first "real" black metal album...got it when i was 12 .

I missed them live though Had to leave when they were comeing on stage!! grrrrrrrrrrrrr
