AKG C1000s for Cymbals

i've been using C3000Bs with the bass rolled off!

sounding not too shabby. probably a bit unorthodox but hey!

NT5's sound pretty good on hat's and ride, not too bad as overheads but there are much better options out there for the same money.

so in that price range, what's your 'cup of tea'?

The AKG C451B is ok, as is a second hand pair of Neumann KM-84's. I personally always hire my overhead mic's unless the studio has a decent pair already (I prefer to track drums in another studio, my current favourite being Airtight Studios in Manchester, UK).
