When I look at the Surtur Rising cover and some of the old covers, I can't help but feel that the artwork on the covers don't really reflect Amon Amarth's style.
The artwork is usually badass in it's own right, but if someone who likes metal, but doesn't know AA, would look at The Crusher, Versus the World, Twilight of the Thunder God and Surtur Rising, they might think that AA was more a powermetal, Manowar style band (I think Manowar is cool because the band's style is so far out and really corny)
In my opinion Amon Amarth's music generally has a bleak tone and I don't think those album cover show that very well. Then there are Once Sent from the Golden Hall, The Avenger, Fate of Norns and to some extent With Oden on Our Side. Even though those covers rate low on the "badass artwork scale", I think they fit AA better.
Agree? Disagree? Indifferent?
