I just used the DI's as I didn't like what I was getting out of the pre-recorded tones.

What you mean - put on natural? My English knowledge doesn't get saying.
I don't have lot of jobs I get involve midi drums and I love when I get challenge to work with real drums.
For guitars I used only 2 mic tracks, because I couldn't get allong with phase cancelation (I tried to manually allign them but I always heard few Hz lacking)
