Well? :D

Definitely the best guitar sound ever I think is on Vinnie Vincent Invasion. The rhythm sound is so thick and distorted and hard edged, and the lead sound is so screaming and ear piercing! I have no idea how he got that sound, I've never heard anything like it.

Other faves:

Judas Priest - Painkiller ... more screaming guitars!
Megadeth - So Far So Good .... HEAVY HEAVY distortion!
Ratt - Invasion Of Your Privacy .... killer rhythm guitar crunch!
Dokken - Back For The Attack... not really the rhythm guitar sound, but the lead sound is amazing!
Van Halen - Van Halen .... can't believe this was recorded in 1978! What a great distortion for the '70s! And the lead sound... PHWOAR!!! I can just imagine the reactions back then when people heard Eruption and I'm The One, etc... these huge screaming flashy solos with massive reverb everywhere would've sounded so new.

Burnt Offerings - Iced Earth (Absolutely crushing!)
The first 2 Machinehead albums
The Gather...

Oh just look at my list in the drum thread, its the same ones :D

Iced Earth - Burnt Offerings - Heavy.
Judas Priest - Painkiller - Wailing.
Megadeth - So Far, So Good...So What! - Thrashy.
Metallica - Master Of Puppets - Metal.

Honerable mentions:

Halford - Live Insurrection
Dungeon - A Rise To Power
Blaze - Tenth Dimension
Grave Digger - The Grave Digger
anything Jon Petrucci plays on.
Vivian Campbell's stuff with Dio.

Burnt Offerings is getting a lot of recognition, but I don't see it, unless the remaster/remixed DG is really that killer. Horror Show has a deadly guitar sound, Jon has godly tone!

Some albums with a guitar tone I would kill for are...
In Flames - Colony
Children Of Bodom - Follow The Reaper, what a killer lead tone. *droool*
Arch Enemy - Burning Bridges
Iron Maiden - Rock In Rio
Falconer - Falconer
Dark Tranquillity - Damage Done
