Albums without any samples?

So, sample vs natural - these samples were once natural to begin with. So what's the huge problem? I guess having to duplicate a single raw kick drum on tape and process the shit out of it was a lot harder than doing it digitally, but what else comes to play?

I think it has a lot more to do with what your expecting to hear. It also seems extremely dependent upon the type of music. There are clearly some great albums that did not have the same level of drum editing/manipulation as we have these days and quite frankly they would probably just sound wrong if we listened to them in any other form than they originally appeared.

I don't think it's an either or thing, just tastes and norms change with the times and expectations for certain genres and periods.
