Could i use one of these and trigger the whole l kit when recording and then have the alesis dm4 or dm5 sent to protools to record the midi?

Yea how would you guys deal with the latency?
Just record it midi and then snap the midi track up to the grid when its finished?
Is the dm4 or dm5 better with midi or they about the same?
I just really think i might go this route though to open up some mic preamps and would be cool cause i could use dfh superior for those drums i record in less than great rooms.

I'm pretty sure the dm4 has no MIDI in or out.
8 1/4" line ins, and stereo line out.

If the DM5 has crappy latency, what would be a good trigger brain to send MIDI signals from triggers? The Alesis Trigger I/O looks pretty good at $150, though I'm not sure about the brand's reliability...
