All bands getting at least an hour...

I've actually become a fan of shorter sets over the past few years. Gets boring watching the same band play for 75 minutes. Granted there are a few exceptions but for the most part, I'd rather see a band put everything they have into a 40 minute set than drag something out.

I agree for bands that don't have going for them. But good bands, I feel like an hour set allows them to do some of their longer songs, or lesser known ones, that are good but often skipped. Plus, it's the only time we'll likely ever see some of these bands in the area, or possibly the U.S.

Definitely in favor of longer sets, but personally I would rather see the mid-card bands (Eldritch, Mob Rules, Labyrinth) who all have EXTENSIVE catalogues getting the extra time. These are bands I have waited years to see, and one hour will be such a TEASE. Just as they get going, BAM. Over and done.

But, that's the nature of a festival atmosphere!

Agreed. I like longer sets, but I do find this to be a curious move for bands like Creation's End and Haken. I know Haken will have a new disc by then, but I'm guessing Creation's End won't.

Well, if they are going to play 40 minutes I want to pay for 40 minutes...

YA im in favor of an hour set for the bands aside from the headliners and then the normal hour and a half + for headliners. I mean some of these bands fly half way across the world to play for less than an hour. I would have paid the full ticket and driven/hotels just to see Stormwarrior alone with Hammerfall and NR as the icing on that big fat power metal cake. Seems like it could maybe work in a general outlook.... I mean different years call for different circumstances.... BUT it would have been nice to see some of the other bands for longer, and then more time to socialize for bands you dont care for. How long are change overs "supposed" to be? and what the heck was the deal with striking the backline for delain? is that the way it was supposed to be or just a "request" from the band? some of the bands seemed a bit to "pampered" later in the lineups. but then again i have no clue what goes on behind the scenes, just from what it sounded and looked like...

Thought a 6 band day could go something like this....

3:00 - 4:00
4:20 - 5:20
6:40 - 7:40
8:00 - 9:00
9:20 - 10:20
10:45 - WHENEVER.

That would rule if were sticking to a 6 band day IMO and granted that set changeovers dont have problems and bands are prepped as they should be... which will probably never happen :lol::lol:

I think typically for Progpower it's 30 minutes. Hell, a lot of venues usually it's between 15-30 minutes, so how Glenn has it is right on track.

I think it's cool that the bands will at least have the option to play 60 min. Although I always found it curious that there have been bands which haven't even taken the full 45 or 60 minute slot that was allotted to them.

The problem is that hour-long sets are probably unworkable for two reasons:
1)You are now asking fans to stand there for up to 12 hours per day. Many can't, Not only would it hurt the fans, it would hurt the bands. Why? People would then find it easier to pick and choose which bands to see. Which means fewer asses in the seats. What is worse, if band x is coming to my town, and they are going`play an hour set, and you are a fan, what are you going to do? Drop$1-1.5 K to go to Atlanta, or $50-75 to stay local.

2) Means Glenn would have less time to do "Special" events like guitar clinics and special shows like StormWarrior's noon set. You are already asking them to be there at around 10 AM to do a 12 noon Special event (You can't just open the doors, you need to set up shop, you know.) Now, you are pushing it to 7 AM on Saturday for a 9-10 AM Special, 1 PM bell time for the Golds, 2 PM for everyone else, just to START at 3PM. Those 2-3 hours are critical. The last thing you need is an exhausted crew/promoter

Oh, please. As Glenn has said before in the past...there are in and out privileges. Take advantage of them. But seriously, Progpower is nowhere near as demanding as some of the big festivals like Wacken, Download, etc. Yeah, not everyone can stand all day, but that's why you have the option to sit in the stands. And you do realize you're only complaining about an extra 30 minutes of playing time per day, right? These bands come from all over (okay for the most part) and for them to do that just to play 45 minutes sorta sucks imo, though it is much better than typical openers on a tour. So to sum up, no I don't buy at all that these extended sets are going to make people more choosy and it'll result in less fans in the house.

One last thing, you're confusing Stormwarrior with Seventh Wonder.
