I took the Dual rectifier tracks out so it's all Cobra now. I also changed some of the drum sounds as they seem universally hated here and tried to clear up the hazy lowend although I'm pretty sure the lowend on this mix still sucks. I don't have a treated room to mix in but I'm starting to think even if I had one the suckiness of my mix's lowend would just be more apparent. :o

Give me mix/tone tips. I want feedback so I can go back and fix things. I've heard a decent few issues myself but I'm sure you could find a lot I missed.

It's slate drums and thanks!

I can't seem to get lowend tight AND big. It's either tight and lacking or big and shitty. If there was one skill I could just attain out of nowehere that would be the one.

Any tips? I've tried different basses, different EQs etc. A lot of it for me is guesswork since I can't hear it but I have tried enough different things that I figured by now I would've stumbled on SOMETHING close to what I am for. :waah:

Thanks for the feedback!

Much better drums! The low end is lacking though....needs more beef to the guitars.

The last one I posted has a lot more lowend on the guitars but a lot of people told me I needed to dial them back to clear up the low mids. What would you suggest? Extending the HP lower or a boost maybe in a designated range?

^ whats your highpass set at right now on the guitars?

125 on lead guitars and 115 on the rhythm guitars I think. Trying to lend some space for the bass to kick ass but I just can't seem to get a powerful bass thing happening. I have good basses and equipment so I dunno why I'm sucking at this.

I usually have my hi passes at both 60. Try lowering it and see what happens....

On my last clip I had them both at 85Hz. It definately had more chunk to it, but the lowend as a whole had less definition.

The old clip is louder so make sure to listen at same volume otherwise you're opinion may be skewed.

<<<---OLD clip. Obviously the drums are a bit different but you'll hear that the low end even without kick is pretty crappy sounding.

I think my issues are probably with my shit bass mixing skills.

Thanks for all the replies man. It's tough as fuck to get any kind of criticism around here. Good or bad.

I think there was a bit too much bass on the amp when recorded as well. The playing is nice, but the guitars seem to be taking up too much space.

Highpass at 90hz.
LOW SHELF starting around 400hz with a gentle downward slope. See if you can sweep out some of the lows in the guitars that are stuffing up the mix.
The high end/mids of the guitar are quite nice, I wouldn't change em much. Try multiband comp on those guitars as well.
