I don't know how many of you know that I live in El Paso Texas, but unfortunetly I do. The population of this city is around 1 million, and we have the largest US Army base in the World Ft Bliss Texas with a soldier population of close to 45,000(by 2012) the units that will here are all Infantry, Mechanized Infantry, Armored Divisions, and Armored Calvary, with 2 Avaition Brigades.

Our sister city in Mexico right across the Rio Grande is Juarez with a population of 3 million. In the past year there have been 4,000 murders, executions in Juarez, all linked to a turf war between two large drug cartels. Well, recently it spilled over, when two US consulate employees were gunned down in broad daylight, and today it was disclosed that the drug cartel has issued a green light to its gang affilate in El Paso to target Law Enforcement Officers in El Paso.

Our officers of the sherff's dept, El Paso Police, and Border Patrol are now on high alert. They have been issued Army style body armor from Ft Bliss, and automatic weapons. The Fast Assault Team from Ft Bliss has been put on alert to assist(Army version of Swat, but with heavier weapons, and vehicles). The governor has called up some National guard avaition assests to assist the Sherriff and El Paso Police and Border Patrol avaiton units. These Units will be going after the gangs in El Paso to try and cut this off before it gets like Juarez.

I only live 5 miles from the border, well I can tell you as soon as possible, we will probably move, just for our own and family's safety if this is not stopped. I will tell you this, I do own handguns, and two rifles, and will use them If i have to.

John, I'm sorry to hear about this. Saying it sounds like a mess is an understatement! Until this country decides to protect its borders, this type of thing will only get worse with time.

BTW - the mayor of Juarez lives in El Paso, he won't even sleep in his own town. Ain't that some shit!

It's a warzone down there.

Fill your hands you sunzabiches!

Yea, I knew this, but wasn't sure if it was common knowledge. BTW another 600 Border Patrol agents are being reassigned to this area, bringing the total to 2,600 give or take a few dozen.

I don't know why we don't go to war with (and not against) Mexico which is actually on our border and causing serious security risks, but we're over halfway across the world fighting two wars that have gone on far too long.

Anyway, I feel for you man, if something like this happened in Phoenix, I would be gone within a week.

I have couches, and can probably hook your family up with mine, up in Ft Worth. *fingers crossed for ya*

Thanks Lara. We have been looking to move for a year or so, just waiting till Rachel finished HS, which is in May, then she is off to college. We are looking in the Austin/Round Rock/Georgetown Texas area, Atlanta Area and the Wake Forrest/Raleigh NC area. Who knows maybe Glenn can hook her up with a job at the hospital he works at hehehehehehe

The big bad U.S. government simply needs to take up for American citizens for once by sending a very strong message to that bunch of "weasels" called the Mexican government. Our government is simply too stupid and too scared they might offend someone to stand up for us though. Our government officials make me sick looking at them, much less hearing them speak! :Puke: They'd rather let shit like this go on at the boarder than to take a stand and correct the problem.

Hope you don't have to fly into here anytime soon Mike, xoh wait I owe you dinner next time your here if you have the layover time.

It won't be any time soon that I'm back there John. We only do El Paso out of Salt Lake City. Since I'm Chicago based, and we're short pilots in Chicago, it's likely I won't be out there anytime soon. However, you never know.

This could be very, very interesting. If the American government doesn't mobilize the military IN A PROPER FASHION to protect its own borders from a clear and present danger, then I urge every single American in El Paso to take up arms and shoot to kill.

One of Obama's next items on his agenda is immigration reform (probably some sort of path to amnesty or citizenship), so don't expect the situation there to get too much national press.

I feel for ya, John. If you need help looking around the ATL area for a place, let me know. (Although I like Austin a lot, too. "Keep Austin Weird!")

That's what l'm talkin' 'bout right there. Get an AR-15 do the conversion to full auto and get you a buncha clips and ammo. Don't ask me how l know about this particular piece. ;)

Same here, but the price is what is holding me back, I don't think my wife would approve of the $10k expenditure, in fact she kinda frowned when i told her the Glock was around $700. Luckily, since i already have handguns, I will be able to pick it up tomorrow, and I also have my concealed handgun permit, so there is no charge for adding the Glock. My other handguns are a Berretta 9mm, S&W 45ACP, and a Charter Arms .380. None of them as powerful as the Glock 10mm. This is the type of handgun you shoot thru engine blocks(front to rear). Great for Home protection.

Hey John,

10mm is a weird cal. I'd stay w/ .40 or .45, just so you dont have to switch to another gun when the zombies come and them ammo is scarce!

yea I know it is a weird Cal, but after talking with some LEO friends of mine they all were in agreement that it might be the best gun around, and they wish they could carry them, plus i like the cost of the gun itself.
