Amon Amarth to Play Wacken 2009

Surprised not to see a thread on this yet! As i'm sure most people known, Amon Amarth are announced to play Wacken this year: http://www.wacken.com/en/woa2009/main-news/news/ansicht/article/amon-amarth-in-wacken/

A stage with a big Viking Boat? Sounds amazing. Probably one of the main reasons I'm really looking at going to Wacken this year.

actually it was somewhat known that they would play Wacken in 2009, ever since frequency of appearances has changed from 2 years to 3 and since last time was 2006

Same. I hope to go to Wacken this year for sure and maybe Raganarok Festival. It turns out both really arent as expensive as i thought. I think overall, Ragnarok is cheaper than Download, which I went to last year. (And saw AA play a great set!)

Hope they will get a Headliner Position this time....

As they are plaing Summer Breeze 2009 as well, I'm already pretty much satisfied with my next Years 2 3-Days-Festival Line-Ups

let me tell if you want to go to wacken, make sure you got your ticket this year!!! its 20 Anniversary of W:O:A and this year it was sold out very early. but there are better festivals for less money, and better bands.

I had a very good time at WOA 02,03,04

in 05 it started turning away from what I really liked about it so when 06 was even worse than 05 I sort of made up my mind of not going again, I haven't yet.

what don't you like about it anymore?, I ejoyed my trips in '04 & '06 equally as it's mainly about the hanging out for me and not the bands, I was never really too impressed with the line-up, other smaller fests have better line-ups for sure, let's face it it's all about partying & crazy germans

It became more and more hanging out for me a well.

02 I lived in front of the stage, 06 I saw 4 or 5 bands...

But I feel the general atmosphere of the crowd has gone from nice to "badass".

Also the feel from the organizers has gone from friendly to moneymaking.

wacken08 was insane, really an awesome experience. I have to go next year... AA and the likely event that Blind Guardian will go since they didnt go this year. i really want to see them again

I won't have the money to go, unfortunately, but it looks to be off to an OK start. Doesn't really matter how many lame "core" acts they get this year, Amon Amarth is enough of a show in itself to make up for it.

Just had a look at that Hellfest in Frances' line up they had this year. Alot of really awesome bands were playing.
