Amorphis

well, at www.amorphis.net one can listen to two songs from the new album. So i did, and i wasn't too impressed i must admit. Though i gave em only two listens i think they lacked of sth, dunno what but i had the same feeling i had with some of the Am Universum songs. i dunno if i will buy it.

Yeah, I know it! I didn't listen to the new single yet, but I'll sure buy the album... I got "Tales from the thousands lakes", "tuonela" & "am universum"... Awasome albums!

get Elegy it opened my mind to new horizons :loco:
yeah tuonela was better than Am Universum, hope the new one is better too

hm, i started with the old 'the karelian isthmus' and 'tales from the thousand lakes' albums, which were great at that time and still are. 'elegy' opened up a new path for the band, and i am to a certain extent sorry for the change, and at the same time relieved that they tried out something new which sounds great to me as well.
you just can't compare the older and new records, but anyway, i'm looking forward to the new one no matter what

Elegy is a damn good album, my personal fave of amorphis. I was not impressed by Am Universum either, especially since my expectations were too high because of the masterpieces like Tales..., Elegy and Tuonela. Still it is a damn good album if you listen to it without havung any expectations. And the new album I think needs to be treated in the same way... Just have to wait and see I guess...

Take care...

Amorphis are(or at least were)gods.im gonna check the new stuff out.
am universum had one or two crap songs on it.
i love tales and elegy though

Goddess (of the sad man) :D
haha this doesnt make sense. anyway there are only few albums which doesnt contain weak tracks.

Tuonela was FAR from a masterpiece. It was a mediocre album with two great songs, it was the first huge drop off in their quality. I'm all for progressing your sound, but when you drop off the production, talent, and songwriting to such an extent as they did on that album, it's almost shocking. Elegy was at least 2,000 times more interesting than Tuonela and Tales from the Thousand Lakes was much more interesting and enjoyable than Elegy and Tuonela put together. Am Universum was a step up from Tuonela, but it lacked in staying power and the melodies were way too obvious and in your face.
