Amp+Cabinet Impedence confusion

I have a Carlsbro NuTone guitar amp head which is 150watts through 8ohms and 250watts through 4ohms (i think?) and im not sure which cab I want to get

I was looking at a Behringer Ultrastack 412H which is 2x200w through 8ohms stereo or 400w through 16ohms mono... now im not sure if this will give me the full power or not, or whether it will work?

Could anyone explain what I should be looking for?

You need to make sure the cab can handle at least 50 watts more than the amps output. Sometimes amps have a habit of spiking a lot over their rated wattage. Not really the case with newer amps so much, but better safe than torn speaker cones.

So if i had the cab in stereo, and the full 250 watts went into 1 side... then it would blow the speakers, so how do i get it so its using all the speakers @ 4 ohms?

i'm kinda confused by this arrangement myself, the marshall outputs are so much simpler!

Doesn't it have a stereo out at a certain ohm rating?

The amp has 2 outputs switchable between 4 and 8 ohms

The cab im looking at has 2 inputs and handles 2 inputs of 200w at 8ohms or a single input of upto 400w at 16ohms

Im trying to work out how i can get the amp output to 16 ohms...

I really don't know, you probably can't run the amp at 16 ohms i'm thinking, Maybe you should get a different cab that can handly that wattage at 8ohms.

Running an 8ohm amp into a 16ohm cabinet won't hurt either, and Mesa/Boogie actually lists this as a 'safe mismatch' in all of their manuals.

I see, so if I run one cable to the cab with the amp on '8 ohms' then it will work?

How about 4 ohms? cause that way i can have 250 watts instead of 150

I have found a cab by Ibanez with 4 ohms/400w handling mono

I think i will just go for that one

i might be wrong but aslong as the impedance on the cabinet is greater or equal to the head then it shouldnt cause any damage, i think anyway. it will just give you a lower output.
