Amp Hum

Hey everyone,

I have some guitar tracks recorded with a good tone etc, but there is some amp noise/hum that you can hear during some of the parts.

I have some plug ins that are meant to help eliminate hum etc, but can't seem to find the right frequencies to remove the noise.

Does anyone know where these frequencies tend to be? Just a general area?

You could just automate those sections to drop 12db or something if you can't figure it out.

i automute all my mixes...the easiest wat to automute is have the person who recorded the part do his mutes because he knows when he played and stopped. oh yeah and always automute before fader automation.

Yeah, normally I do that. I was just wondering if there was a way to make things sound cleaner overall with a plug in. I have never used a plug in before for that kind of thing so I was more or less just curious about it.

I always edit out the gaps in the guitars where there is no playing. Doesn't take too long and is definitely the most accurate way of sorting this kind of stuff out.

try a 60hz notch filter

I definitely do and will continue to do the method of just editing out the gaps. I will see if the 60hz notch filter is the thing that I was curious about

Record some of the noise straight, turn it out of phase, and then shift it back and forth to see if that helps anything?
