Hi guys, first post!

Anyway, I'm looking at buying a new amp, and basically have a choice between an Ibanez Tone Blaster 150, or a Marshall AVT275X. They're both going for the same price, so price isn't my issue...

Which is better? I've heard the marshall has bad distortion, but that's ok I have a pedal I'm very happy with. I've heard bad things about the marshall but I'm getting it dirt cheap, as much as the Tone Blaster...I'd obviously chose the marshall, but I can't find anything about the Ibanez, and I hear alot of bad things about the Marshall. My main problems with my current amp is feedback and volume. Any mids and feedback galore, and I KNOW it's my amp, so please don't ask me which cables I'm using etc... yeah and I need enough volume to play in a garage band, drums etc but not through a PA system. We play melodic death metal, and I'm lead...

Thanks guys...

Hey man. I own a marshall AVT 275, and it's not a bad amp at all. I can many sweet tones from this baby ranging from Racer X to Necrophagist solo and rythm tones. Distortion wise I guess its pretty nice, although its an amp which favours an overdrive sound, plenty of effects which I admit I don't even use but still  Great sound on both low and high volumes. I think it's pretty good quality for the price and I bought it at its RRP. As for the Ibanez, I have no idea  but in most cases I wouldn't trust an amp made by a company which specialises in guitars.

Try Laney LC50-II, it's a very good tube combo and AFAIK similarly priced to the two you mentioned. Don't worry about its wattage, 50W of tube is obviously louder than 150W those two transistor amps claim... And Ibanez and Marshall (mentioned models) can't compare to Laney soundwise, they're very harsh sounding (read: crap).

But it's all up to you to try and decide. ;)

Steer clear of the Marshall, they're fucking horrible. Most of the money you spend on it will go on the crap effects unit, which although it has loads of different effects is a pile of arse. I have to use this amp occasionally when rehearsing and I end up incredibly frustrated with it.
If you have overdrive/distortion pedals then get a one channel amp, a decent valve driven single channel amp with no in built effects unit. Spend your money on the channel you need, instead of also getting all that extraneous bollocks.

Get a Hiwatt DR-103! From the seventies! You won't be disappointed...
