Wolves In the Throne Room, Deathspell Omega, Watain, Lurker of Chalice, Drudkh (not including their folk album) I would argue are better. And Hate Forest, but they are no more. But with an Emperor reference and the clear death metal influence (sorry, but it does delineate a difference), I doubt these bands would be quite your thing, Dead Winter. Ruins of Bevrast are good though. And Southern Lord has distro on Funeral Mist as well.

I like Anaal Nathrakh, so I'm not trying to be a prat about it. I just don't listen to it in the same context to the aforementioned bands.

Thanks a lot! I'm really open with all types of black metal, except for some really low budget stuff. I've got all the old Ulvers, so folk is covered as well. IX Equilibrium was basically a symphonic thrash metal album, IMO.

I'm not a purist, but I do appreciate good black metal, in all its delineations.

Is it just me, or did the last two Zyklon releases seem a little bland? World Ov Worms owned my soul, but after that it just kinda slipped away.

I cannot say FUCKING DRUDKH enough. Get Purity by Hate Forest too.

The latest Helrunar is incredible.

Uh, Carpathian Forest.

One band I cannot recommend enough is ELITE. They are incredible.

Aeon was ok, although the best track on it was the one that was kind of far away from the rest of their material on the CD (An Eclectic Manner).

I haven't heard Disintegration, so I couldn't say, but Zyklon Aeon seemed a little too Morbid Angel influenced to me.

I got the latest one, and there are one or two really good tracks on it, but the rest seemed like filler. I heard Aeon, but I wasn't impressed so I never bought it.
