Anathema - The Silent Enigma

I want to hear what you think about this album, 'cuz it's on of my all time favourite...
it's an album i can hear in any mood: happy/sad/joyfull/depressed/etc

I've been on an Anathema kick lately listening to all of their albums...TSE is definitely one of their best!!! There isn't one bad song on that album...

Hear hear!!!! But all of their stuff is awesome....I really love 'A Fine Day to Exit' too...this is the album where Vinnie finally has learned how to sing....and the Cavanaughs are some of the best songwriters around!!!

Bloody great album! Took over a year for me to 'get' it, didn't like more than a couple of songs until I saw their live vid, the songs made much more sense then.

How does the earlier stuff differ from works like Alternative 4 and Judgement? I've grown to LOVE those albums lately. Is the same magical songcraft there already, or is it closer to standard underground metal? I'm thinking of what to buy next.

The earlier stuff is more metal, they get heavier as you go back through their catalogue, but they still sound like Anathema, the atmosphere and all. The albums pre-Eternity have growling on them (well, Pentecost III is more like talking).

Hmmm...the Coverartwork from Silent Enigma is cool... (the best of all Anathema covers).

I´m not really into the music yet, so I can´t say a lot about the album (have only heard "Judgement" & "Fine day to exit", and they´re great)...

I´m just checking out some tracks from Silent engima...

@Verago: check out some "Alternative 4" tracks first, it's the one Anathema album you can't afford to miss, by far their undisputed best. Especially if you like "Discouraged Ones", which you obviously do...

The Silent Enigma is the weakest Anathema album in my opinion. The early stuff ("Serenades" etc.) is pure Doom Metal with growling vocals, a bit in the vein of old My Dying Bride, great stuff, Sweet Tears is such a great song and Sleepless is a classic too of course.
