Andy are 2 bass drums better than 1

Not if your two kick drums are unmatched and tuned differently, and you're not using triggers, live. That is a hilariously bad thing, but a certain well-known 80s thrash metal band that my ex-drummer used to play in had a lead singer who FORCED his drummer to do just that.
Well, of course the kit would have to be set up and tuned right! Duh! :D

Two drums? It all depends on how fast you want to play. We play at 210-230 16th's and one kick will not work. The head is still rebounding by the time the beater from the double pedal hits it again. Not reliable. You can get the Ddrum trigger to work fine with one kick though at most speeds. And also the tone is consistant obviously with one kick. The number one factor in weather to use one or two kicks is the drummer. If he has been using one all his life, give him one. If he is used to two, give him two.

The naked man towel drying himself if from a game called pussy city pimps (its a game for nintendo), I guess someone "re-made" double dragon and called it (above). I thought it looked funny

It does look funny.

if you have a good drummer and a well tuned kit with two kicks, why not... but I've heard some really badly tuned double kicks in my life and it's BLAH

while I'm at it.... if you have a garage-band-quality single kick/double pedal setup and no decent mics for the kick, would you guys recommend a trigger or a mic as a next purchase? for heavy/speed/thrash, not black or death or something like that...
