Andy how's the krankenstein?

OMFG I just laughed for like 10 minutes at this thread.

So, Andy, how's the Stein? I compared it to the Rev about a month ago, and my friend and I preferred the Rev... seemed a bit thicker... the Stein seemed a little thin... dunno... tubes? Maybe we set it like shit? Fill us in

Do you have to come piss in every thread where a Krank amp is mentioned? I could have sworn the thread's question was directed toward Andy, not you. We know you love Engl and hate Krank, and we could care less, so give it a rest.

+100.

Matt - This guy also goes by the name of Megadeth7864 on the HC amp forum. He is the guy who started the thread over there called "listen to how awful these krank clips sound" and pointed to your clips in the 4x12 cab shootout thread. I personally think Mark Palangio should open up his blackmore head, dip both of his feet in a pool of water, and proceed to place both hands on his filter caps and let 400V of raw american power course this his body and launch him across the room, possibly exploding his heart. =) I'm not violent, I swear...

Give it a rest, Palangio... we get it. Krank amps suck, Dimebag didnt know anything about tone, everybody gets their Krank amps for free, and the ENGL Blackmore head is the greatest, tightest, most brutal letal metal tone machine ever made. Thanks for setting all of us straight, oh great one.

Sorry if I offended any of you cats with my, as you say, "tough guy" rhetoric, but I tend to get a little emotional when someone makes jerky and downright idiotic statements about someone that meant a lot to me. Dime was/is pretty much at the top of the list of my musical heros, along with James Murphy and Andy Sneap. I'd react the same if they were the subjects of this guy's malignant slander. And for the record, I'm not a pacifist kinda dude. I'm a ex-military, semi-retired bar brawling, red-blooded American ass kickin' machine. What I say on the net, I'd say to your face ANYDAY. Getting mad or fighting is human nature guys. That's how we've done it since the beginning - and it's NEVER gonna change. It's especially true if you don't have a twat between your legs. Although, I do agree that this is not the place for it.

I'll limit my comments/questions strictly to recording and music from here on. I have the utmost respect for Andy and won't jumble up his forum with nonsense. There are a few others that should follow suit.

MAN!! It's impossible to go through a thread anymore without having some shitface get irate. This forum blows now. I wish all these retarded fucking noobs would take a hike.

I agree. "Harsh" is a perfect word for it. I know Loomis and Smyth are using these now on Gigantour. I hope they get better tone than AE or In Flames. Ugh. THey don't even sound like tube amps.

so now i have a big question.

loomis used mesa boogie amps on their new record right ? and so far every album i've heard with mesa or even live sounds really, really good.
then why the fuck does nevermore use krank amps, while they used mesa boogie amps and it sounded awesome !! it just makes no sense. everyone say they suck . . so why do they use them live ?
im gonna see nevermore live in september. i'll hope sneap reads this and give a call to loomis that he has to throw those kranks away  :yuk:

we used Krank on the album as well as Boogie. I like em, seem to sound good here. I'm liking the Krankenstein, the top end is a little more forgiving than the Revolution, which has the attack of something like a modded 800. Its like any amp, the guitar/player combo has to suit it, some amps, such as Engl (which I also like alot) and Peaveys are more forgiving in their tone. The Krank cab with the Eminence I'm still not so sure on. I think the cabs made well, just the speaker that sounds a little phasey, and if thats what people are using live, I can guarantee thats why people are getting scratchy tones. It actually sounds great in the room, but I'm finding you need to mix that cab with something else.
With regard to some of the posts on this forum recently, I don't feel the need to respond, especially when it seems so irrelevant - even when people post negative comments about the work that has taken me months to do. The thing is, I'm in the real world of deadlines, dealing with music industry bullshit, running a studio and trying to hang onto a life while working 14/16 hr days with no weekends so far this year. If I get a comment about someones life being ruined because I didn't use a multisample kick on an Opeth album, I ain't losing sleep over it. What I don't like are these comments that seem to be cluttering up this board which are obviously just trying to incite a reaction.
I haven't bothered getting in touch with UM about moderating this forum, as I don't mind a bit of lively banter, but the whole point of this forum is so people can ask questions and get educated, experienced replies, also remember, that I'm paying for this forum to be hosted, so I think I've been pretty tolerant so far.
Behave or I'll fight you all :tickled:

And that's an excellent philosophy. Constructive criticism delivered with helping someone or letting them know how to improve is the best criticism there is...I believe they call the inciting posts trolling, and that shit can be a real pain in the ass sometimes.

I'm not really into the bands that you produce and such, but your production knowledge is reason enough to respect what you do. And your willingness to share the knowledge around and keep in contact with fans and such. Keep up the good work.

Well said

Cheers for the response Andy. shit i was not expecting this to turn out the way it has,,,, sad!!!
Well if Loomis and Smyth are using kranks now then what i have been told about there gigantour sets is that they are sounding shit hot!!!! cant wait to see these guys in glasgow in september.

Praise the lord.

Although I have to say Andy, there's some studio owners down here that would kill for the steady streak of business you've been having :). Most hardly get enough of a profit to keep the doors open. Anyway, hope things ease up on you and we can see you chilling out here a bit more often!

All Hail the metal GOD!! Andy for president of metal land!
Welcome back Andy!!!!
To my ears krank recorded is really good, as I said here, they seem a cross between 5150 and a warhead
Never heard live a krank amp, just can't wait to listen to nevermore in milan for my birthday!!! thanks nevermore it would be a great birthday on 29th of september!!!!

Andy - Was a Krank cab used on any of TGE, or just the head? I also agree the Krank cabs just do not sound all that great, and agree 100% with your assessment of them. Maybe it is the eminence speakers, or the design of that big metal grille with the small circular holes in it. For whatever reason, a Krank head and a Boogie cab (with v30) is a killer pairing.

Mendel - don't let the internet and people like Mark Palangio brainwash you about Krank amps, please.

Y'know the saying if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all? :erk:

This place is so insanely helpful for people like me who don't know what they're doing- PLEASE do not mess it up with this type of pointless banter. Take your shit elsewhere.

?? Deaths Acre - was that aimed at me? I really hope not. I agree this forum is aces. It's nice and clean and loaded with talented people and great advice. I just happen to get a bit riled up when a palangio type of person does what he does. It's a form of pollution if you ask me. Moving on now...
