Angra's new album AQUA...

Can't wait for this one, although I'm curious what my options are given that it launches on July 31st in Japan while those of us in the states have to wait until September. Import my only option? Any Japenese mp3 services one can use from the US?

Must resist temptation from ordering and paying a shitload of money from one of the import vendors.

Meanwhile, this is taken off the press release, regarding Aqua's concept:

The concept and the musical atmospheres of this new record, as well as the main classics of ANGRA discography are based on a rich and involving history. The whole composition of the album was directly inspired by “The Tempest” – the last play written by William Shakespeare and shown here through an epic vision compared to its dark side. “We really dedicated ourselves to the last work of Shakespeare to create “Aqua”. Besides all the qualities of the text, we founded out that the element “water” is one of the main characters of the history. It transforms itself during the cycles and changes the things around. It represents the rage of high tides and tempests, and then the forgiveness and wisdom in calm. Everything happens after a violent storm that occurs in the sea, in an island hill. While the wild waters come from up and down, a ship and the entire crew are fighting for surviving. As from this point, we developed one very interesting narrative that will get the attention of the listeners”, said the guitarist Rafael Bittencourt.

Wow! And all along, I thought Angra was pretty much done. I really enjoyed all of thier albums in different ways. By far, my most favorite one is Temple of Shadows, followed by Aurora.

I will most definitely have to check this new one out. Wonder if any pre-release copies will be available at ProgPower.

Sweet! I'll be in Japan when this comes out. Easy buy for me.

angra is one of those bands in that long list of bands that have been around for a long time and that I have never listened to, maybe one day I will change it. just wondering, which album should i start with?

I got started on Fireworks, but it's all good stuff.

Legal download of the new single! 320 bitrate and comes with hi rez artwork and lyric sheet! Liking the song as well! Direct from the bands website.

Is Aquiles Really gone? Sounds just like him playing (And I mean that negatively, I much prefer Confessori's style).

The song is OK at best... Arising Thunder POW. I laughed out loud... Angra has done better than that.

You can definitely hear Ricardo's style throughout the album. There's a lot of that "swing" type of feel, which is his trademark. The album doesn't sound as mechanic as the last one did (when it came to the drums).

I like this song. Has Angra done better? Yes. Is this a good song, and a nice "appetizer" for the main course coming up soon (Aqua)? Absolutely.

I also like that Angra didn't pick the slower, most "accessible" song to be the single.

I like Rebirth personally. Your mileage may vary, but these are my two faves from that release.

One thing about Angra for me is....... they are one of THE most talented bands out there when you look at the musicianship across the board. They have two incredible guitarists, an incredible drummmer........ you get the picture. They have always been hit and miss for me in songwriting though. Their immense talent at times has seemed like it has taken away from "feeling" in many of the songs.
