i like the way they sound, but can you push the gain when recording , or does it do that weirdo digital clipping thingy?? i like to record things hot , because i think they sound better. ive always done 2 inch tape because it sounds so good ( ala Heartworks ) and you can push the gains. i dont run things hot so theyre louder, i do it for the viscious upfront sound. if i do adats next time will i be able to run things hot ???? or should i do the tape route as always ????????????

As long as you are not in the red you are ok, the odd clip here and there, don't panic, as long as you are not hearing and nasty distortion. The only advantage with digital, getting things as loud as you can (without clipping) is your taking advantage of the bit rate. Especially at 16 bit.
