Yeah, youtube totally does a number on my mix with their compression. I do agree with the guitar tone being a little to grainy....maybe I will put a LPF to smooth it out a little.
you could sign up for dropbox, that's what a lot of us use on here. It's more popularly listened to if its from dropbox and its free and does not compress the music on ya.
for drums, you could split up the tracks individually in your daw (kick, snare, toms, cymbals) and then replace ones you want with different samples (drumagog, slate, whatever) to give it a "not so drum kit from hell" sound.
Thanks for the good advice, the idea with making the bass a little grittier is working nicely. I know a little about how drumagog works, but what would be some recommended drum samples to use for a song like this? Any personal favorites?
well, there are tons of samples on/in this forum. NSGuitar made a really badass snare about a month or 2 ago, i'd try to find that. http://therecordingart.com has a bank of various samples, including already made .gog files. hope that helps man
Drums are super ezdrummerish. Get some better samples (like those suggested above!) and that would be a huge improvement! The song itself is really cool, though. \m/
I dig it, sounds good, I'm not a mix pro ear tho i'll listen to anything on a shitty demo tape and one speaker if i like the music. Most important to me is does it have it's own ambiance that flavors the music in the right way, example Haunting the Chapel ep, sounds like it's from the abyss, to try and remaster it modern would only shit on it.
