Any good bands local to you?

I'm fortunate enough to know a fair few local bands, all of whom are excellent at what they do - here are a few of my faves.

Lucys Drowning - impassioned industrial metal crew with an eye for a good remix (their version of Limp Bizkit's 'Rollin'' has to be heard to be believed) and a highly political standpoint. http://www.lucysdrowning.com

Clay - teenaged metal wrecking crew mixing Pantera, Raging Speedhorn and Deftones in with some death metal influences to punishing effect. The fact that the bassist is one of my best friends has nothing to do with them being on here at all. :) http://www.geocities.com/claysunderworld

Payn - Pantera Mark II. But I'd rather have another Pantera clone than a legion of Morbid Angel wannabees, personally.

Cul - Melodic death metal with classical influences, from sunny Dudley. Intelligent song lyrics and complicated song structures rise these guys above the norm. http://www.weallbecleansed.com

There's many more, like the ones I mentioned in the 'Welcome' thread - Rise, Emotive Exposed, along with Undefined, Binge, Swaktang, Aleysium Shift, Disarm Goliath, and many more.

How about you guys - do you know anyone who could be the next big thing in UK Metal?

hmm, nothing wrong with this band (i don't know them, so i can't judge), but their name made me laugh
cul = arse in french ... does it means something in english ? i didn't know that word
hmm, sorry to begin to make noise in your all new forum

Can't call them my local bands since I live in UK but some british bands well worth of checking out are:

Rainmaker888 http://www.rainmaker888.com/
metal the way it should be done - heavy ! something from 80's mixed with some modern influences and that's it.

Dead Men Dream http://wakeup.to/DeadMenDream
Darren "Daz" White is back with his new band. They continue where The Blood Divine left after they split. Rocking and rough.

Dreambreed http://listen.to/dreambreed
Not exactly a newcomer but good neverthless. Features Dave Pybus on vocals/guitar.

Antimatter http://warp9.to/antimatter
Duncan Patterson's new band, moody ambient-electronic. Not metal but fark and excellent neverthless.

www.solacedenied.com
descent, decimate (from Birmingham), Stampin' Ground, Labrat and check out their links pages for more. anyway if you see Dave Chang (is that how you spell it) as the producer for any band then chances are the band are good.

Strawberry fiar, cambridge. I think it was them neway ;) YOu can see it made a large impact! :D

Well, you deserve dirty looks, youlike that disgusting racket they call metal music  :p

Not really many down here. There's a lot of bands coming and going. There's one called Vaya that have hung around for a little bit - they've recorded an EP but I'm not sure if they're making much effort to make it big. One of the guys is in my year at school but he, like the rest of 'em, is in love with himself, so I don't hold their egos in very high regard ;)

I dunno if Headplug are local, but I saw 'em last week and thought they were good. Do the rounds down 'ere a bit.

move left a tiny wee bit on your map and you will find a little country called IRELAND. This country is home of some of the most unique and promising bands I've ever heard.

check out Waylander, Cruachan, Scald, Stand Up Guy, Primordial, Mourning Beloveth, Mael Mordha, Abaddon Incarnate etc...

hehe

the man's on a mission that's for sure.

What about 'Honey for Christ' though? We're playing this dungeonfest malarchy with those guys in the Summer. I'm sure they're from Ireland and I think they're pretty well known.

You know them?

well you could say i'm on a mission. i know alot of these bands personally (including Honey For Christ who rock but arne't my style as much as the more extreme bands) and i know the effort they put in and the talent they have. Each band produced from this emerald isle will be truely unique and unlike anything else you have heard because of the irish folk lore and traditional elements.

Slaughter of Souls from Southampton
and Mulch are getting noticed

Mulch are a really cool band, aint spoken to anyone else who's heard of 'em though :D

Other bands who I think deserve a mention are:

Argento : Extremely diverse heavy metal band. From melodic-death vocalised Iron Maiden covers, their own unique sounding songs, Metallica medleys and even some Misfits thrown in, these guys are worth checking out!

Desecration If you havent heard of this band by now...then you need to hear them! Currently touring.
