i have this little bitch here, acoustic electric
561380jpg.jpg

problem is that the saddle sits about 2 inches off the body, rendering it virtually unplayable...this is my first acoustic, so i have no idea wtf i can do to lower the action

The saddle is literally 2" off the body?
figure of speech =P
but it's like 1" ...nothing is broken, but it can not be played (you figure it out)

just so you don't be a wise guy i went & actually measured it, exactly half an inch or 1.3 centimeters

what kind of company would build this crap??:erk:

The height of the bridge is generally coordinated with the angle of the neck. In other words, it shouldn't be the bridge height that is causing your problem.

Is the neck severaly bowed?

Don't go cranking on the truss rod unless it needs it.

Fret the string at the first and last fret and look at the gap in the middle. That will show you how much the neck is bowed. It should be very minimal, and by that I mean you should hardly be able to even see the gap.

Then tell us what you find.
