Any guitarists on here?

My own headphones don't play much bass, which is why I try to maintain some kind of decent mid to high tone on the bass.... so even though you may not hear the actual "bass" sound, you will be able to tell what the bassist is playing.... Sometimes that's all they care for in the end. Bass isn't usually very high in metal in general. I can't wait for the day when bass gets a fair shake... such an awesome instrument. :)


Technically speaking there is no actual bass sound except what your ears hear from the amp. By the time is goes through a mic, compressor, pre, etc. it's been reshaped many times over.

But I think Iron Maiden did a lot of this to their bass (boosting mids). It never really sounded great but you could always hear it. And since bass was so integral to their music it was very important that you could hear and distinguish it.
