Any Masonic Brothers on the board?

I dunno... I still think there is a thin line between a cult, and well.. a cult.
No one can still really explain to me what do the Free Masons do, what do they stand for, and what's with all those meetings.
I'm happy for whoever goes there and enjoys the 'all men's club' atmosphere, but that's exactly what it is.. 'all men's club' to sit around and drink
away from the wives.

Not that there's anything wrong with it ;)

I see no problem with secret societies that turn the gears in the underworld to make everything up top work properly. I'm all for certain people being chosen to do certain deeds and I'm also against the notion that discriminating against certain people for not being initiated is somehow bad. In a perfect world, the average Joe should be able to forge his or her own destiny, but let's face it: there are just way too many retarded average Joes to let them do what they want and fuck up life for everyone else.

If there are secret societies that really run the world, thank goodness for them. Otherwise, people like Sarah Palin and the Tea Party movement would be making policy right now. If these societies recruit the best and brightest, then a discerning individual will eventually find him or herself eventually becoming initiated. People who whine about not being good enough and conspiracies against them are the same people who think grading should be removed from schools.

What do the boy scouts do?
How about the girl scouts?

Surely it isn't just race pine cars and sell cookies.. is it?

What about college fraternities?

Answer those questions and then you will know what Free Masons do.

I always looked at the Masons as a fraternal order designed to prepare individuals for success in all aspects of life by giving them the tools they need to become successful in their endeavors and simultaneously create a networking system between them so as to continually help each other out. It's about helping your fellow man, or at least that's what I always figured it was. I'm not in it so they could be sacrificing babies for all I know...but I know several Masons and they're all successful and good people.

The last time I checked, anyone could apply to become a Mason...all you had to do was know a Mason and ask the question. It's ultimately the choice of the individual. Being fearful or having disdain for the order is a personal choice, but that doesn't change the fact that they're a colossal sect with immense influence. Whether they hold some dark, secret power that runs the world is for all the tinfoil hat-wearing people to debate.

Amen to that. You've pretty much got that dead on. A lot of the historical stuff is just symbolic of various things from the building of King Solomon's Temple.
I am surprised you don't already know this. There are many freemasons in the armed forces and the way they get promoted to higher ranks easier is through their fraternity. That is why I hate freemasonry, it promotes favoritism. Fuck that bullshit and fuck freemasons. Why do you need an organization to be charitable?
That's not promoting favoritism. It's no different then just simply "knowing people in high places" aspect of looking for a job to begin with. You just happen to have something in common. And you're right, you don't need an organization to be charitable. BUT, being with a group of like minded, charitable individuals, can do far greater things than your $25 by itself can. For example, operating hospitals across the United States for cancer and burn victims, etc. at NO COST to the patients themselves. Not insurance. Nothing. But hey, if you have enough money to make that big of a difference in the world, by all means, go ahead.

Seems as if you're referring to cult in the derogatory form such as sacrifices and people with hoods and goat masks and all that non-sense. None of that here. But hey, getting away from the wives is always a good excuse :)

Who the hell gets promoted in the armed forces due to favoritism? The promotion system in the United States Armed Forces works by pitting you against your peers' performance reports and testing. If you're enlisted and you score higher on your exams and your performance reports and you have the required time in grade, NO ONE, NOT EVEN THE PRESIDENT can keep you from making rank.

Officers are a different story, as they have to go before a board of officers and be judged against their peers according to their performance reports and time in grade/service.

The only place where favoritism flourishes is in the private sector.
