BUT........ I did see Marcus at Bang Your Head and he mailed me with some PUMP news a few days ago. First here's Marcus' original message in German, than my translation for Morrigan's Pit.

Hallo Marlies,

Marcus von PUMP hier...wie geht's Dir??? Balingen gut überstanden??? Hoffe alles okay bei Dir. Wollte mich mal einfach so wieder bei Dir melden und ein paar Updates von PUMP mailen, vielleicht interessiert es ja jemanden aus der Brainstorm Fan-Gemeinde.

Nach den beiden Queensryche Shows haben wir wieder mit dem Songwriting für's neue Album begonnen, wir hoffen bzw. bemühnen uns die Songs bis Dezember oder Januar fertig zu stellen und dann gleich ab in's Studio um die Songs aufzunehmen. Das ganze wird, so wie es sich im Moment anhört, WESENTLICH härter als das Debüt-Album ausfallen...schon irgendwie im gleichen Stil aber doch rougher und tougher. So wie bei Skid Row in etwa, der Unterschied ist so wie von der ersten zum zweiten Album....

Hier mal ein paar Songtitel von bereits fertigen Songs, sind alles noch Arbeitstitel, aber ich denke die meisten Songtitel werden so bestehen bleiben...

01. Blood on the blade (sehr heavy, sehr schnell, sehr britisch, irgendwo zwischen Skid Row "Slave to the grind" und irgend etwas schnellem von Priest...)

02. Save me I'm falling (Dokken meets Aerosmith-like...gute Hookline, sehr funkiger Mittelteil der in ein grandioses Solo übergeht)

03. Higher (klingt irgendwie wie Saxon "Solid ball of rock" meets Winger..., Killer-Hookline und schon live gespielt mit Queensryche, sowohl die Leute im Publikum also auch Queensryche-Jungs sind total darauf abgefahren...scheint wohl gut zu sein...)

04. I can't deny (sehr bluesy, klingt ein wenig nach Whitesnake und Lynch Mob)

05. Headstrong (hat einen Rainbow meets Queensryche Touch)

06. Shadowkids (sehr bluesy und sleazy, richtig geiler schmutziger Rocksong, aber mit düsterem Chorus....)

07. Ride the bullet (klingt ziemlich nach alten Saxon meets Krokus, Uptempo-Song mit ziemlich geilem Gitarrenriff wie ich finde...geht gut nach vorne ab...

08. Mistreated (leicht poppiger Melodic-Rocker, irgendetwas zwischen Tyketto und Dokken)

Wie Du siehst, ich bin ziemlich begeistert von unserem neuen Material. Ich bin sicher die neue CD wird richtig geil...wir haben mittlerweile glaube ich auch unseren eigenen Stil gefunden. Außerdem haben wir noch tonnenweise geile Riffs die wir noch nicht verarbeitet haben. Hoffe wir bekommen noch ein paar gute Songs gebacken. Kann sein das evtl. wieder einer der oben genannten Songs in die Tonne fliegt, kommt halt jetzt noch auf die Qualität der nächsten Songs an. Wir wollen aber auf jeden Fall 12 Songs für's neue Album aufnehmen. Let's wait and see...

Wir werden das neue Album auf jeden Fall wieder von Tommy Newton produzieren lassen, Plattenfirma haben wir z.Zt. keine mehr, aber es gibt ein paar interessierte Labels...mal sehen. Ich gebe Dir auf jeden Fall wieder Bescheid sobald sich mal wieder etwas ergibt.

Also, wünsche Dir noch eine schöne Zeit, wir sehen uns bestimmt irgendwie mal wieder.

Würde mich auf jeden Fall sehr freuen wenn ich mal wieder etwas von Dir hören würde.

my translation for Morrigan's Pit

PUMP WORKING ON NEW ALBUM After the two Queensryche shows they supported, German melodic rockers Pump have started writing songs for the new album. They hope to go in the studio on December or January. According to singer Marcus Jürgens it looks like the new album will be much heavier than the debut. "Still the same style, but rougher and tougher, similar to Skid Row's change between the first two albums... Some songtitles (working titles!) are:

1. "Blood On The Blade" (very heavy, very fast, very British, somehow between Skid Row's "Slave To The Grind" and something fast of Priest)
2. "Save Me I'm Falling" (Dokken meets Aerosmith-like... good hookline, funky middle part flowing into a great solo)
3. "Higher" (Saxon's "Solid Ball Of Rock" meets Winger... Killer hookline and we already played it with Queensryche, the audience as well as the Queenryche guys loved it! Seems to be good )
4. "I Can't Deny" (very bluesy, a bit like Whitesnake and Lynch Mob)
5. "Headstrong" (has a Rainbow meets Queensryche touch)
6. "Shadowkids" (very bluesy and sleazy, really cool dirty rocksong, but with a dark chorus...)
7. "Ride The Bullet" (old Saxon meets Krokus, uptempo song with pretty cool guitarriff IMO, very straightforward)
8. "Mistreated" (slightly poppy melodic rocker, somewhat between Tyketto and Dokken)"

Marcus is very enthusiastic about the new material. "I think we've found our own style and we still have tons of cool riffs that we haven't used yet. I hope we can make some more good songs. Depending on their quality, it could happen that one of the abovementioned songs will end up in the trashcan. We want 12 songs for the new album, so let's wait and see..."
Pump will record the new album with Tommy Newton again, but they don't have a label at the moment. Some are interested, so I'm sure something good will come up. More info on Pump on www.pump-rocks.com.
