*Edit:After Crillmannen Told me Tobias Lindell was a mod at the Gearslutz I snooped about there and found some info on him. I've included a few goo links I've found in case anyone else is interested.*

I've posted before asking about this kick, I've had this album since it came out and the more I listen to it the more I love it.

Anyone got any info on this album?(amps, Drums,Techniques used etc...)

It's probably pretty obscure, I can't really find much info about anything he has done.I'd especially like to know about the snare sound.

Also found a cool making of video, Doesn't explain any of the actual mixing or techniques used though unfortunately.

(Also another cool link I found regard his recording with Europe the band: http://www.europetheband.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16215 )

Well, I took a stab and msged the Producer/Engineer Tobias LIndell, and this is what he used...
I used Jcm800 Kerry King Signature and Mesa Stilletto on that record.
Emg on the guitar.
Cab was Mesa Recti 4x12"
Rec. Mic was U47fet. And the preamp Lindell 18Xs

While not directly related to Avatar Black Waltz this link is Tobias on the gear he used when recorded drums for Hardcore Superstars:

He's Swedish. Had a studio in http://www.bohussound.com/ which have a big room with a neve 88. Think he lives in Thailand now, but still mix. I know he loves samples so all his productions is probably heavily augmented or totally replaced. He was the one that recommended the AT ATM450 mic's for tom and snare, sounds awesome.

He also done Hardcore Superstar and Mustach all sounds very good.

Nice one, I'll have a look at those on the Slate site demos :). I've got SSD 4 but couldn't get the right snare sound with that.

I was using superior drummer to try and get a similar snare sound using the Nir Z snare. I got close enough (not exactly the same) that I was really proud of it, but somewhere along the line I managed to lose the snare tone with no idea how haha. Luckily I have a short clip mixed down so I'm going to use it as a reference along with the song above.

Always loved the way Avatar stuff sounds. Like lots of space

I only started listening to them when they released this album, I found the song Black Waltz on youtube then decided on a whim to buy the album of Amazon. Definitely worth it, the music’s great and the production is brilliant.
