I watch all of them, I love the way they give insights into the production, recording, writing, the back history of the artist.

Your favourites OF WHAT HAS BEEN MADE?

Mine are:
Metallica - Metallica
Bob Marley and the Wailers - Catch a Fire
Frank Zappa - Apostrophe and Overnight Sensation
Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland
The Band - The Band
Lou Reed - Transformer
Nirvana - Nevermind
Phil Collins - Face Value
Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
Queen - A Night at the Opera
From wiki:

"The music, and its production, is dissected by the musicians and/or producer playing the multitrack recordings and singling out tracks that one does not usually consciously hear when listening to the music, giving insight into the way the sound is built up. Also, the individual musicians play back pieces, which are then blended with the original recording. Almost all songs are dealt with, focusing almost entirely on the music itself, how it was composed/realised. Personal aspects of the band or members are occasionally dealt with, but mostly only if they serve this purpose. TV episodes are 50 minutes long but the DVD releases contain much additional material"

Those would be awesome, but I'm pretty sure the series didn't cover them yet.

I love all of those.

Classic albums might not give an epic amount of insight like i'd like but it's something.

I've seen the Hysteria, British Steel, A Night at the Opera, The Joshua Tree and Number of the Beast all the way through and I caught parts of Metallica, The Doors, and Face Value...

Decent series, I can never catch it thought, I should reeeeally set my DVR

-p

I've seen
Maiden - Number of the Beast
Priest - British Steel
Motörhead - Ace of Spades
Deep Purple - Machine Head
Def Leppard - Hysteria
Metallica - Black Album

The Priest one was great, all those sound fx stuff they made up was cool to hear how they did it and how it sounded like soloed. Purple stories were interesting too.

Motörhead one rules even harder because Philthy Animal.

Maiden one was much like the Early Days-dvd, I think.

I've only seen the ones for NOTB/Metallica/DSOTM but they were all pretty insightful - however, the "Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica" docu showed far more studio footage as far as the actual recording went.
