i am looking into a new GPU but i am not sure if now is the best time to buy.
i lost track on the market so i have no clue what's coming etc.
currently i have pretty nice PC but it starts to slow
down on current games like BF4.

my system:

i7-2600K @3,4GHz
16GB, 1600 RAM, corsair IIRC.
ZOTAC GTX 580 amp²! GPU

any ideas? :)

It's computer hardware ... there is always going to come out something new the next month.

Depending on how much you want to spend, i believe the GTX 780 Ti (around 650 euro) is the best Nvidia card and the R9 290X (around 470 euro) the best AMD card at the moment. Those are single-gpu cards ofcourse, there are dual-gpu cards (GTX 690 and HD 7990) which are ridiculously expensive.

I always check Tomshardware (and a couple of dutch websites) for reviews and benchmarks, so you can check out the best GFX card at the moment on BF4 benchmarks:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-780-ti-review-benchmarks,3663-5.html

If you compare price and performance, i would go with the AMD R9 290X ...

What power supply do you have?

BF4 is broken as fuck right now, don't blame your PC.

yeah, my pc runs great on high settings on any game but for the best look it seems to get a bit old.

i have a be quiet! "Dark Pro 750W ATX23"
i guess i'll need 1000-1500W for a stronger GPU?

the 780 Ti seems great as it's between the 780 and the
780 Titan which is ridiculously expensive.

i'm not into AMD anymore as i had enormous issues with my radeon HD XXXX (can't remember the exact model)

would you say that my system is worth upgrading with a GPU at all
or does the rest not fit!?

i think it's still pretty solid but yeah, who knows...

Your PSU won't be a problem ... but your CPU might be.

Kinda hard to tell, i've read that some people are using a GTX780 with a 2600k OC'ed to 4.6ghz and have no problems running BF4 on ultra.
And this guy is doing pretty well: , and this one:

Most gaming isn't actually all that demanding on the CPU. Your 2600k will be plenty. The graphics card is what gets pushed.
I too have a 2600k and a GTX580, and the only reason I would upgrade my CPU is if I wanted to use more demanding audio plugins.
If I wanted to be able to keep up with new games, I'd hold out until the next generation of Nvidia cards and buy the high end one just as they're released.

If you want more power/res for your game's graphics, what you need to do is either a CrossFireX or an SLI array:

actually i can run BF4 on ULTRA on my system already and most of the time it runs pretty fluid. where there is a bit more going on on the field it starts to slow down though...

not sure about the CPU, just checked out my regular computer store, the 2600K is still one of the TOP CPU's there, but maybe i am missing something...

do you know any dates?

i'd prefer a single GPU as i do not have that much space in my tower.
that whole 2GPU's sthing seems not that good to me also, you'll never going t get twice the power it's mre like 1/3 at all.

just ordered an EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SuperClocked ACX

i hope it brings the performance i am looking for. i've also read that a MB update is required,
never done that i hope it's easy to to

I installed a GTX760Ti with that same design about a week ago and I kind of dislike how flimsy it feels (both the backside and the front surfaces feel like they're just 'glued' on by a mushy interior). Kind of worrysome to manipulate the card at all.

I'm also having trouble refrigerating the case now (didn't have any problems prior to having a graphics card). I've had to put away the front and side panels of the case and do a weird mod to the front fan so it pushes more air inside, so the mobo won't overheat, make some beeping, and crash/freeze the PC.

The card is not silent at all (not terribly loud, but definitely not silent) when gaming.
