Any tips for restoring a DVD that won't read?

Hey Guys - I'm trying to install some software and two of the install DVD's are erroring out because some of the files on the disk apparently can't be read by the DVD player in any of my computers. Any tips on how I can recover the data from the disks so I can burn replacement disks?

I don't see any significant scratches on the DVD's and they worked six months ago. This is weird...

Try soap and warm water - it's worked for me a few times. Or - could it be your DVD drive? Do they work on another system?

Toothpaste scrubbed with your finger can sometimes work. If its completely dead, I don't know, sorry.

No. I tried them on two systems, so I know it's not just the DVD drive on one system.

Yeah, I forgot about the old toothpaste trick. I'll give that a try, too.

I was starting to look into different software options, however, I got an email today saying the publisher was sending replacement disks to me. So I should be good now. Thanks, guys.
