if so what kind do you suggest I go for? I was looking at a schecter damien 7 and hellraiser 7, or a Ibanez

Schecters are nice. I play a lot of Schecters on my lunchbreak....but, I wouldn't buy one. I don't really like their bridges nor do I like the string-through body. I am quite attached to my floating bridge.

If you want a 7-string, I suggest you go with an Ibanez Universe. Those are pretty badass. But, the next guitar I'm going to get is a 7-string John Petrucci sig Musicman. I can get those pretty cheap and goddamn, they are fucking sexy.

schecters are nice and are a great value, but yea, i agree with seph, a floyd would be nice. as far as i know, schecters have only 6 strings with floyds. however, the Universe is gonna set you back a couple.:Spin:

I got a Schecter A7, wanna buy it ? :p It´s cool, but I never really play 7 strings... but if you´ve got the money, I´d go for the Ibanez Universe.. I love that guitar

i'd recommend an Ibanez RG7620. Lo Pro Edge 7 tremelo, dimarzio "new blaze" pickups(a blaze variant), and it'll only set you back about 500 on ebay... maybe even less... depends... great guitar

as long as we´re on the 7 string topic... has anyone ever played an Ibanez RG 7321 ? Someone is selling one for 190 euro.. it´s about 460 euro new I think

its got horrible pickups, and is korean made, i'd recommend a RG7421, you get the quality of a jap made ibanez, but it still needs new pickups, although they are better than the RG7321's.... the RG7421 can be acquired for not too much money, and it shares the same neck as the RG7620/RG7621

i got my korean made 7 string for $300 licensed floyd rose, pickups are pure shit, but i bet if i changed the bridge and gutted the pickups i could make it wail
