Is this a solid guitar for the price? I've played it and I like the feel but I've heard some negative stuff about Schecters. Along with some good stuff, so I'm not sure.

Is there a difference in build quality from the Damien Elite? I know the Damien is bolt on. Why the huge price difference?

I ask these questions knowing that even the trolls here know more about this than most Guitar Center sales people, haha j/k.

I like my Hellraiser, and in a test that Guitarhack did a while back, quite profoundly enjoyed its tone over the Loomis.

They're good guitars, generally play well, and I've not had too many intonation or scale-related tuning issues, which seem to pervade some others.

Yeah its an great guitar for the price and is very similar to the loomis. As with every guitar it will take a while to break in and the Floyd Rose versions need a good setup to get rid of any string buzz.

I vote for Loomis NT (tune-o-matic bridge). I have owned two HellRaiser C7's and I like them, but my friend's Loomis NT is just much nicer, feels better and to me sounds better.

Can't say my Hellraiser (that I bought off Daniel/Nebulous from this site) plays as well as my Ibanez 7 strings, but I think it's mostly because of the longer scale length which increases the tension
Definitely a bit harder to do bends and vibrato. Otherwise, it's a nice feeling neck, certainly never slowed Loomis down.
I only play mine in B standard since I'm not a tune-down kinda guy (E standard when I was playing 6 string guitars), but they will comfortably support G# tuning with no hassle.
I have one of the older models, before they started using EMG 707-TWs. How different they sound to the regular 707s, I have no idea.
Someone will chime in on that hopefully.

I've not tried, but it'll go one of two ways

On 85 v 89, the output is lowered a bit, low end is tightened, and the top end isn't *quite* as round.

On 81 vs 81TW, the output is again lowered a bit, but the low end is softened and the high end is smoothened.

On the 707TW I'd imagine would tend towards the 89 and not the 81TW, so I think you'd be in for a tighter low end/reduced low-mid hump and a more aggressive top end. Both good things, IMO!

I paid about $660-ish for a new Hellraiser back in 07. I was a good guitar for the money, but for $850?!? No way. You can find a better Ibanez or Agile 7 string for much less.

As for the Damien, it's probably made in Indonesia so you'll be wanting to avoid that like plague.
