It's a composing software where you basically make a music score on your computer and it plays it back via pretty excellent MIDI if you have the newest upgrades.

I've only played around with Sibelius a little bit, but from the demos that come with it, it has a bloody ton to it. I've also played around with Finale 2003 a good bit, and since I'm more familiar with it I prefer it over Sibelius, although i know Sibelius can convert midi files to score as well as has better midi-instrument sounds.

I think it kicks ass, and if you can be fucked with it, it's better than GP4 for writing.

I've heard from people that have used Finale and then hear Sibelius (3) that Sibelius plays it back a lot more accurately and with more options (I doubt Finale has the col legno MIDI). But I think Finale might be easier to use somewhat. I've never used Finale so I don't know for sure.

Yeah GP4 (as well as Guitar Studio) was a pain in the ass to write with.
