Anyone else think Wintersun sucks ass?

God - this band is truly awful yet so fucking popular. I can't believe how one of the most derivative bands can have such a huge following. Go to amazon.com and read those customer reviews over there. It's truly baffling. These guys basically rip off the vocal style of COB and lay it down over conventional power metal structures with the occasional acoustic elements in between. Then, there's the horrible singer who must think he sounds really emotional and moving when he goes clean. I can't help but laugh every time he shifts to a clean tone.

I'd much rather listen to the new Insomnium or some Swallow the Sun if I want cool, dark Finnish melodic death. At least their music has balls and none of this cheesy, pathetic drama that permeates Wintersun's material.

I own STS's "The morning never came" and enjoy it. Never listened to Wintersun nor Insomnium actually.

I have to say, while obviously musically talented, their music is just... it's not bad per se, its more so just boring and quite uninspiring.

Perhaps better suited for younger fans of metal to serve as a gateway for better music later down the line, and if thats the case, then hey, nothing wrong with that

...virgin sphincters. Storm of the Light's Bane is a giant cockfest, and the less said about their subsequent releases, the better. Jon should have put the bullet in his head the day after they finalized the mix for The Somberlain.
