Yup, I've been there. I live in Phoenix AZ so it's not too far. Last time I was there.....it looks like a lot of run down buildings on the streets with shop owners standing in their doorways trying anything to get you in their shop to buy something with the US dollar (higher value than the Pesos) and they'll haggle like no other I've EVER met. They'll even offer you joints to buy something but I heard that if you get the dope, they notify the Federales and your ass gets arrested and I've heard that you DO NOT want to end up in a Mexican prison under ANY circumstances.
It's pretty cool to go for a visit and shop a little. Nogales is a very bustling place with tons of people always out on the streets selling stuff, walking with buddies, girls trying to getcha to "buy them a drink", the usual you'd see anywhere. Tequila is VERY abundant and VERY cheap! Go with the ones that have a worm in the bottle, it's worth it. The bars are always pretty busy with all sorts of visitors and locals alike............it's a cool place to go. I'd recommend it just for the exposure to the culture. I go occasionally with family and co-workers that are Hispanic so the language barrier isn't too much for me with a few interpreters around.

Miami is phony ass hell. Motherfuckers hitting the street in $2000 suits and a cell but have no money and live in a shit hole. And half the bitches have boob jobs.

I've been to Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco) twice now, since it's only 4 hours from Phoenix. I stayed the weekend. It's dirt cheap, from hotel rooms to drinking. I never bothered too much with haggling, but the food kicks ass. I loved it both times I went. Way more Americans than I ever expected, too. Mostly college kids on whatever break they have that week. I've never been to Miami, but I would say that Mexico isn't a bad idea.

Ive been to Miami. Didn't like it, Not my kind of town. I have also hung out in Tiajuanna, it's not bad. When I was to younger me and the boys would go there to drink. Now its just another shit hole to me. If you go to Mexico go to Cancune. If you shop around hotels can be cheap. Tequilla is cheaper then water (don't drink the H20) You would have to be an Idiot not to get laid. The clubs suck but you get to watch all the horny little college girls dance on the bars. As long as youre not afraid of a little VD you can fuck as much as you want.

Red Light for party sucks, everything closed at 01.00, after that the only thing open are the gay bars, they close at 4.30.
It's nice to party if you like to smoke and fuck some hookers or see some nice x-rated shows!!
best plan a visit when you want to see some live music, always bands from all over the world at "The Paradiso" or " the Melkweg/MAX" and check out a soccer game by the mighty AJAX!!
For Mexico should I pick Cancune or Puerto Vallarta??

I've heard some great things about both places, nothing negative about either one, except that Cancun is a little bit more expensive than Puerto Vallarta, but it's still cheaper than anywhere in America (gotta love those pesos!!).

Just kinding. I would go with Mexico, but would be very selective as to where you go. If you're a guero I'd go with a resort/tourist town. Me I can blend in well. Hell, Florida wouldn't be bad either. Don't know about Puerto Rico....

i went to nogolas when i was like 12, the first paragraph perfectly described what it was like. Dudes trying to get any white dude in their shop to buy anything. poor people on the street breatfeeding children and bars and alcohol out the yin yang. Not slammin on mexicans, you got to do what you got to do. Nogalas aint no where near as nice as tucon arizona, that place rocks. We saw feral pigs runnin around outside our hotel room one time and they were just like partying out there, it was cool

If you just want to relax and have a good time, Puerto Vallarta, easily. Miami has great nightlife and beaches and all, but it's still just a major American city. Puerto Vallarta is more like a resort; you don't get the feeling so much that there's a big city and offices and all that around you. And yeah, it's in Mexico, but it's nothing like shithole Tijuana, which is basically a US suberb.
The deal is booked!!Flying 1st class on august 19, unlimited drinks and meals on this 12 hour trip!!After that it's 16 days of tequila drinking mayhem!!!!!!!!
