Anyone from the Boston/Mass area ?

All the sports venues (except Patriots in Foxboro), schools, museums, bars, clubs, restaurants, attractions etc. are all fairly close in proximity and located everywhere of course.

except that almost all the metal shows are at the Palladium in Worcester. Occasionally there's shows at the Middle East and the Avalon is reopening but the vast majority will still be at the palladium, conveniently located 45 minutes away from any vestige of culture.

Dude, you go to UML home of the Riverhawks... R U originally from Lowell or just there for school? I lived in different parts of Lowell for almost 20-years...and currently work near UML. Now that I live in N.H. I can't say that I miss Lowell too much...though I still hang downtown at times and have many good memories.

I have lived in Lowell all my life broman. Ever been to RRRecords downtown? :p

Yes...good call WAIF. You also have the DCU Center in Worc. n/f the Centrum. Usually bigger name acts / bands.

I know its not metal, but the House Of Blues in Cambridge is kickn!

Chicago owns. It's definitely one of the top 5 places in the US I would like to live. Boston is probably down towards the bottom of the list, but I'd like to visit and see the sights. There's a lot of historical stuff out there that's for sure.

If i remember right, they rated Boston and San Francisco the most expensive places to live in the U.S. (highest real estate). If i had to choose it would be San Fran hands down. Ill put up with a bunch of homos for nice weather year round.

Of course...its on Central St. Do you visit The Brewery?...I like that place. I like the Old Court, the Dubliner, the Worthen (its ancient). My St. Patty's days are still spent downtown Lowell.

The Bay Area as a whole is the most expensive place in the U.S. to live.

Abso!
Bro, if you ever visit Winnersville...I mean Boston, I'll be the first to buy you a brew...then we will throw down!

Honestly...sports aside, theres a reason its Chi, Bos, SF, NY, (then the rest) there is soooooo fuckin much to see and do.

Why are you moving away from Chicago?

New job.

You mentioned Weymouth? I have a sister in-law from Weymouth...been a few times, not a bad town. Far enough south of Boston more the rougher neighborhoods that I mentioned...but still close to Boston.

Wait, so you mean suburbs like Brockton are the tough ones?

I was planning on living in a suburban area b/c they look cheaper. Weymouth is near my job and the crime stats are low.

V.V.V.V-Someone told me Lowell was ghetto....

re: rougher areas...I meant immediately south of Boston...you get places like Mattapan, Dorchester, Roxbury, Jamaica Plain (no thanks). These places you would drive through and past if you were going down to Weymouth, Brockton etc. Weymouth is much better than Brockton.

Lowell still has its rough spots, but overall the City has greatly improved over the last decade or so.

That it has.

muz: the owner of RRRecords is one of the best known noise artists in America, he released my first album etc. Good guy. I am not old enough to drink so no I don't really go to those places, but I have been to the Brewery Exchange for parties as a kid. Good shit.

I'm at Umass Amherst right now and yeah, I too am excited for December/January.

This.

Though I also think the Bay area has a more interesting cultural history, so that would kinda affect my choice too.

Have you ever gone to the annual lobster festival in Rockland?...thats when I usually went up for visits...first weekend in Aug. a good time!

Yep, Camden is kinda crunchy and uppity. I think a few movies were also filmed there, including "Seal" and "Man Without A Face" starring Mel Gibson. J. Travolta lived and docked his boat in the harbor...I remember seeing it.
I really don't care for all that shmoozy shit! I liked going there for some beers and the best chowda from here to the moon at Cappys Chowda House!
I hear about the lobster fest a lot. It's a big deal here. Celtic fest is kinda a big deal here also.
My girlfriend was born and raised in Bowdoin, ME, ml. Know of it?

Nope.

Cool...good stuff about your first release.

Never heard about the Celtic Fest. Assuming its related with St. Pattys Day?
Been years since I've been up that way... sounds like something I should checkout. Tell me about it?...
