In this day and age..try talking about metal to a person

BERST LINE IS " I loved metal when I was younger"
I snap when I hear that shit
"oh you've grown up now and listen to what your wife makes you listen too"

My Mom Is almost 60 and loves Saxon,Priest,Nevermore,Maiden...

Oww Yeah
H.R Giger is a genius aswell
Giger? You are the man!

One of the greatest painters of our time, plus designer, sculptor, total artist. Not to mention so many of his paintings addorning album covers (by special comission or by chance) Celtic Frost, Hypocrisy, Debbie Harry, ELP, Steve Stevens, etc.
He create the original designs fro "Dune" (as was about to be directed by the great Alexander Jodorowsky) but never made it. He also design "Alien" and "Species".

This is from the failed "Dune" project:

I have to agree with you there. The most common one I have heard is "I used to be into them or I used to like that when I was younger."
My thoughts on that are, they were trendwhores to begin with or if not,
what's wrong with it now? I mean a good record is a good record regardless of how old or young you are, right? That's cool that you have a parent that isn't afraid to stick to what she likes & be proud of it. I certainly hope to be that way at 60 years old. I have no reason to change the musical style that I like, it wouldn't be me & I just love the stuff too much! Killer post, no I think I have ranted too much...

Lol I don't know Bryant, if you listen enough to anything I think you can get tired of it. But it is beginning to think Tad Morose may prove me wrong... :vD
Yeah they are still seeing heavy rotation on my player with no sings of slowing down.

I JOHNNY CASH - American IV, The Man Comes Around - Yes, this is the one with "hurt" on it but there are so many better songs than that on this one...
I have never even heard the original by NIN, but I'll give kudos to Reznor for writing it, The Def Jam guy (can't remember his name) for recommending it to Cash and Johnny for recording it. I think it is an oustanding song.

This is kinda becoming like a "desert island" thread. Any way, I would cheat and make sure I had my mp3/cd player and just have mp3 cds of all the bands I like that way I can have all of their albums on one disc (note: Priest, Maiden and Metallica are 2 discs each.)

While I always state my fave band is Vanden Plas, I have only been listening to them for about six years. I have been listening to Accept's "Metal Heart" and "Balls to the Wall" for twenty years. I can't recall a time ever getting burned out on those releases. They just push the right musical buttons for me. What releases do ya'll have that you just never get tired of ?

In chronological order:

"Somewhere In Time" Iron Maiden-1986
"The Eye" King Diamond- 1990
"Through The Darkest Hour" Solitude Aeturnus- 1994

After a while a lost of stuff starts to lose it's luster as an overall album, but those three always seem brand-spanking new, the oddest being "Somewhere..." as I purchased it as it just came out that year. Timeless.

Absolutely. I 100% couldn't agree more. I actually had people come up to me when I was 22 and say, "You still listen to that shit?" Huh?! Yeah, these people were no more than a year older than myself. I want to ask them if they lived a previous life on a farm in Ohio in the 1930's.

This could go on for an even longer rant, but if you find someone who says that they USED to listen to "that shit", but now they don't, chances are they never were really into it in the first place. Faking it the whole time, if you know what I mean.

Since this is the Old School board, I will dust off a classic word for those people:

"Poseurs". :Spin: :Spin:

Iron Maiden - Piece Of Mind
Kotipelto - Waiting For The Dawn
Sentenced - The Cold White Light
Children Of Bodom - Follow The Reaper
Armored Saint - Revelation
Bad Religion - The Process Of Belief
Anthrax - Sound Of White Noise
Bruce Dickinson - Accident Of Birth

Overkill - From the underground and Below This Album still sounds as new to me as the Day it was Released :D
And Abryl reminded me of this one ... Anthrax - The sound of White Noise! one of my top 10 albums of alllllllll time there!

Metallica - Ride the lightning.
The first Metallica album I bought, out of randomness, I loved it from the second it kicked into Fight fire with fire.
I was like "wtf did I just buy" when the acoustic bit was going for a good 30 seconds.
After it kicked in, my neck has never been the same since ;)

And who can forget Creeping death, For whom the bell tolls, and Trapped under ice.
