Well I totally compressed it to hell using a preamp sim, waves C1 and PSP vintagewarmer and BBE sonic max to boost the high freqs.
By the way, I really like the guitar sound for this genre, mind telling me what you used here? I also like the sound of the top snare very much for this genre.
Snare (odery snare.. no idea which one, REALY nice though.. brazilian made!) was just a Sm57 just a TAD over the rim, into SPL Goldmike.
Guitars was a combi of a EMG loaded guitar going into a Boss HM2 pedal (THE pedal for everything grind, like you maybe heard me say before.. this thing is grind in a box!!) into Brunetti 059, a REALY crappy JCM800 cabinet (from which i picked the best speaker hehehe) miced on axis with a sm57 into a SPL goldmike.
The other distortion track is the Brunetti amp without any pedals and a Gibson Les Paul, miced differently.
But the HM2 is the key to this sound man! mieszko also preaches about it.. check!:
"This was the first time we really wanted to have 4 rhythm guitar tracks per song. I've never used more than 2 before. And for that we needed a sound that would fit in with the "Mesa + Mesa" sound. This came to be a BOSS HM-2 through the clean channel of the Rectifier (again). Same microphone setup as for the first 2 guitar tracks with a slight balance change between the mics."
