I've always heard lots about these guys (+girl) so thought I'd get Doomsday Machine to check them out.

Well fuck me, this CD is damn amazing - awesome songs, the guitar work by the Amott brothers is superb (reminds me of classic Maiden dual of Murray / Smith back in the day), Angela's vox are great, and the production is killer.

Sensational record. :headbang: Anyone else like AE?

My buddy Justin turned me onto them. I haven't bought any of their albums yet, but I like them.

Anthems of Rebellion I thought sucked when I heard it. I like the only older Arch Enemy song with the dude that I heard, Dead Inside. However I bought doomsday machine and I agree it kicks fuckin ass! Machtkampf, and track 4 or 5? cant remember are my faves.:headbang:

I have all their albums, being an Amott fanboy :loco: I think doomsday macnine is a return to form, but overall, I would suggest you get the first three Arch Enemy albums with Johan Liva singing - much more complicated arrangements like a perfect mix of maiden and heartwork era Carcass. The Gossow stuff to me is much too simplified, and also *whispers* "nu" :yuk:

Well, I like the old stuff and the Chick-Stuff. I love to fool friends by playing the new AE-CDs asking:"Guess who's the guy singing?" hehe NOBODY believes that's a girl!
What I hate about AE: They often cancel their shows, because she has voice problems. Two years ago I waited for hours till someone said 5 minutes before the gig started:"Sorry, no voice. Show is cancelled!" And because another band (nevermore?) played, we didn't even get our money back. So, for me, AE is a great Studioband but I'll never go to a show again.

I got the new cd yesterday and today I'll listen to it. I hope it's as good as Wages of Sin.
"nu"? Well, not "nu" but a little bit simple, true. I just heard the single and it remembers me of Manowar :loco::
Fight, fighting for freedom
United, we stand..we stand ....

One for all
All for one
We are strong
We are one

<--- Makes me laugh, but with a sense of humour it's ok. And the music and her voice rule!

No. I find it hard to take any band seriously with 1 female and 4 males.
thats just me.

I guess you haven´t heard her growls then!
She´s actually (in my opinion) better than the old singer (Johan Liiva??)!

The new album is one of the albums of the year, behind Nevermore's This Godless Endeavor.

I prefer Angela -era because they sound a lot more like Carcass with Angela than they did with Johan.

Hmmmmmmm...I think they are waaaaaaaaaaay too simple nowdays to sound like Carcass did, but hey, everyone's entitled to their opinion...Stigmata was the best album of theirs i.m.o. - great musical composition right there...:headbang:

the music is fucking immense but i haaaate those damn voclas...anybody know any cool modern bands with similar music but guy vocals?

If you like the melodic / thrash / death crossover thang, my favourites are The Crown (R.I.P) and Witchery (who also have a cool 80's vibe going on there...also features Sharlee D'Angelo on bass, fact fans).

Saw them and Wacken and liked their show. Angela looked so...angelic when she bursted onstage, but then she opened her mouth...

I like them but the hottie needs singing lessons from Joey or John or both.

When I saw them open for Maiden they reminded me of 1985 Speed Metal all over again.

I liked Wages of Sin thanks for the rec Miltbrand. This album reminded me of power metal.
