my last few CDs have all been 'one-man band' kinda things and I'd really like to make the next one a joint effort. my primary instrument is guitar, so i'd like to find some other musicians who would like to help out on bass, drums, and vox.

this is NOT about getting a record deal, touring or anything like that - just some serious musicians being creative remotely and having fun.

i enjoy writing songs and already have a few just about ready to go. ideally i'd like to write the guts of 8 or so and have others contribute their pieces. i'd also have no problem doing the final mix.

requirements would have to be you've been playing for awhile, are a responsible dude and can of course record your respected instrument well. drums would of course be the most challenging of all of these.

the genre is melodic hard rock/metal (e.g. dio, megadeth, nevermore, etc..).

interested? PM me or post a note and I'll PM you!

@azistenostora: i guess i was planning on doing all the guitars, but hey - i wouldn't mind handing off a few of the leads.. do you have a link to something you've done recently?

@muckypup1: great! i suggest once a drummer steps up (ahem! **clears throat in the direction of group of drummers slumming in the back of the room quietly, so as not to be noticed**) - we can give one of the tunes a shot and make a call from there as to whether or not it's worth moving forward. sound reasonable?

Yeah sure man, I'll be back at college in a few weeks so I don't mind waiting a bit for it to start :D

Once I get my e-kit module fixed I'd be up for tracking midi drums. Might be a few weeks before I have it fixed tho...I'll check back then! :)

actually was hoping for an acoustic kit (although i usually end up sampling kick/snr/toms). really depends on the quality of what's recorded. that's more of a guideline than rule. do you have an acoustic kit? i guess the most important piece is the overheads and real cymbals/hat. if you got those might be doable.

If you're still looking for drummers, you may want to dry the George Kollias forums. I went there, posted one thread asking for a drummer and my inbox was full. If you throw the whole "paying job" thing in there, expect more, but be ready to pay. A lot of professional drummers are on there. Jade Simonetto from Hate Eternal, and Torturer from Belphegor (Session drummer who recorded Bondage Goat Zombie.)

The guys who do it for money are the real deal, the ones who do it for free are the ones you really have to hear first.

Good luck brother, let us know how it goes.

thanks man, i'll check it out.

yea - have already talked to a few 'for pay' drummers. some pretty famous. definitely quality, but you'll pay thru the nose!
