I believe NO!
the new material sounds just retarded, Slayer should stop here, though I admire them alot - they are just uninspired as fuck esp. live nowadays.

opinions please..

You're fucking mad. Psychopathy Red actually impressed me for a Slayer track - have you HEARD anything else from their 'new' album? Nope, you haven't.

As for new Slayer in general, pretty much all of their 90's stuff is shit. God Hates Us All has its moments and Christ Illusion was a step or 20000 in the right direction with some amazing stuff on it. So whats your reckoning for saying new Slayer is retarded? Its just Slayer being Slayer, if youdon't like it then do't listen to it lol

Cant help but wonder if you really think so or just wanna start a argument...

The new song, psychopathy red is fuckin awesome, studio and live. One of the best songs they've made in the 2000's imo...

dude, I know what Iam talkin' about man! Iam a huge Slayer-fan..
I already saw them live last year and that concert was pretty lame, not relating to the sound it was bad but their performance had no energy, no inspiration!! how I know that from other bands.. and exactly this I can recognize on their new tracks too.

Anyway forget it..

Slayer are a hit-and-miss live act, but judging a band on their live act is ridiculous. I'm not gonna say Slayer are flawless but they've done a damn sight better than most other bands their age.

See, I reckon that Divine Intervention was their downfall point, and God Hates Us All was when they started to get it back together. Christ Illusion even more so, it ALMOST sounds like a cross between Seasons In the Abyss and God Hates Us All. Skeleton Christ and Flesh Storm fucking own.

Yeah so there isn't neccessarily anything new Slayer can bring to the table, but they can still kick out some pretty good thrash every now and then. If Psychopathy Red is anything to go by, the next record will be brilliant.

Divine Intervention is bloody relentless, i really enjoy that album. you can't pick a fight with killing fields, dittohead and circle of beliefs, they'll kill you. I have a soft spot for diabolus in musica as well, thats the album that got me into slayer, the lyrics on that album are incredibly mental! and god hates us all has a few good songs, the rest are terrible, and christ illusion is so DULL.

Well I loved 'Final Six' and 'Psychopathy Red' is even better - 'FS' had a Seasons in the Abyss (song) vibe to it, and 'PR' almost has a Reign In Blood (album) feel to it.

As for being uninspired live - they've always been like that....they go on stage, they play their setlist, and they go home. They don't put on a stage show, mainly because they don't need it the vast majority of the time. The only time I can recall seeing a gimmick onstage was when they did the raining blood schtick....it made me cringe, to be honest.

And they don't need to bring anything new to the table at all - they've been doing the same thing since they started, it's got them where they are today and they're gearing up to say goodbye anyway. Why do something new? Stick to what you are good at....they tried something new on Diabolus In Musica which didn't work for a lot of people (not me, I love it) and on God Hates Us All and Christ Illusion there is filler material.

And even though I've seen them live way too many times, I'll still go to see them on the next tour. Not a big fan of stageshow, so going to see 4 blokes go onstage and play appeals a lot more than going to see a flying monkey jump from amp to rafters and then on to Araya's shoulders, just as he screams 'Angel of Death'. (although that would be funny to see)

^STOP THE PRESS!!!! Dave approves of something!!!

Just kidding mate. I know you aprove of at least one other thing haha.

On the Slayer note, I agree with Matt about Divine Intervention. I really like 213 from that album but the ones mentioned are very good too. Diabolus has some good songs on it too. Those first three are awesome and the rest, apart from Scrum, are meh. I really like God Hates Us All, its one angry fucker of an album, but it does have, as some have said, filler on it. And Christ Illusion as an album on the whole is a bit on the forgetable side but it all fits together very well.

I am looking forward to the new album. If Psychopathy Red is anything to go by it will have some good music on it.

Divine Intervention just didn't click with me. I think Dittohead was the highlight for me. Diabolus... nope, can't giv eit much credit apart from the japanese tracks (which are better than the rest of the album for some reason).

Dis one time I was about to bang my girlfriend and we heard dat dere was dis drill. And she heard dat dere was dis drill and she was like "Dere's no way." Family Guy eh.

What was the question again?

The question is..... Do Slayer need a new record themselves. If theyre still up to it, then they should record it. I only want one if they do, if not its gonna suck.

Like I said, they're going 100000000000000 miles in th right direction at the moment so I'm waiting for this rather eagerly.

I'll tell you who needs to record a new album - Coroner. MOAR CORONER!!!
