Looks like we're getting another Slayer record this summer and it looks like they are rushing it again. I for one, just want a better record than WPB and not another rushed product. Also, I ask why Fidelman as producer? He's one of the worst in the business, and I don't know why anybody chooses him.
SLAYER guitarist Kerry King has revealed plans for the bands follow-up to 2009's World Painted Blood and he tells Metal Hammer that their next full-length will be completed and possibly released as early as this summer.
Currently were taking a break, but I am very excited by the way its all turning out so far, King says. Ive worked up three songs with Dave (Lombardo; drums) and theyre sounding really refreshing and energetic. Im certain that Ill have three more ready to go when we return to action.
King adds: I dont think well spend long in the studio this time either. Were gonna do it old school style and get things done fast. In fact, we are already ahead of schedule. The album will be ready for a summer release. But whether its put out at that time is down to the record label [American]. They might have other plans. But we want it with the fans during the summer.
When asked about guitarist Jeff Hanneman's recovery from from necrotizing fasciitis he continued: "We could go onstage with him right now and do Mandatory Suicide'. If that was the only song in our set, Jeff would be fine. But hes slowly getting himself back to full fitness and by the time were ready to tour hell be right back onstage with us.
Tom on Jeff...
"Jeff is recording and writing with us on the album. He can still play, and he is rehearsing with us. Its just that he needs to get his chops up before he joins us live again.
Producer for the album: All four of us have agreed that the guy that we want to record our new record will be the same gentleman who recorded our last album (World Painted Blood), Greg Fidelman. We just had a really great experience with him last time, loved the sound, and, if we can make our timings match up, we would love to record with him again. Well probably bring him in towards the end of the writing process, which is what we did last time.
When will the band enter the studio: We are aiming to have something down by May, before the touring kicks off over the summer.
