Anyone tried 2x12 for bass?

Just bought and old Peavey T-max amp and need a cab for it.
Looks like a 4x10 will be a good option for metal, i'm on a tight budget and my plans were to order a new peavey or ashdown 4x10.
I got an offer to buy a used Ebs proline 2x12 for the same price as a new cheap 4x10

Do you think a 2x12 will be a good option?
Will use this rig for rehearsal only.

I really like the mid response of 12" speakers on bass-a bit more bass than with 10" but still tighter
than most 15" speakers.
But always have in mind, it seems like there are even more different cab styles out there for bass
than for guitar and the cab itself has alot to do with the sound, a new mesa 4x10 cab sounds pretty
different from an older one for example because they changed housing.

I really, really like the T.C. Electronic RS 212, sounds way bigger than the 2x10 imho and especially
for heavier stuff with the RS amp you're able to get some nice and nasty mids.

Thanks!

I think i go with the ebs 2x12, i am buying it used for a great price so if i don't be happy with it i probably can get my money back if i sell it.
