Im looking at Sonar X3 for 99$ on steam...

I'm a long time sonar 3-5-6-7-8-8,5 user,

im wondering how different the X3 is...

is it a big upgrade? what are the things to know if I go X3!

Steam integration seems nice to keep it up-to date

I kinda wanna go 64 bit since I use tons of VSTi pluggins, sonar in 32bits lacks rams to be responsive...

what do you guys think?

nico

I mainly use wave,s stuff for pluggins anyway...

Use toontracks for drums, omnisphere for synth...

I dont think i would use the cakewalk stuff beside basic sonitus stuff sometime...

X3 user. It's the best of the X series so far, but it will take a bit to get use to from 8.5 but I like a lot of what they have in there like in-line melodyne edits. I don't really use the built in plugs like Prochannel since I have VCC but there is a good amount of decent sounding plugins. Also, the sequencing stuff is pretty decent in there. Use the step sequencer a lot for drums.

Are most pluggins working fine??? Waves? Toontrack? Spectrasonics? Etc... Are you on 32bits or 64 bits? Also, i think id like the melodyne integrTion but then id need the 199$ studio version...

No, Pro Channel is not needed, and you have to buy the better ones (concrete limiter, CA2A), but they go on sale a few times a year.
I have (arguably) better ones, but the Pro Channel stuff is pretty decent.

No issues at 64bit with RME UCX, EZD2, SD2, Komplete 9, Trillian, Omnisphere, some waves stuff (Q10, delay, the CLA set, C4), Melodyne, a couple of the Fabfilter ones, Ozone 5, etc etc.
Don't think I use any 32 bit plugs anymore, but when I did, they bridged fine.

Not sure if the sale is still on, but once you reg the Melodyne basic, you get an option to get the Editor version for $149

i just saw that the melodyne essential included in sonar x3 studio does the audio-to-midi thing...

now i am wondering how i could get it on the cheap... cheapest way i see is to get the x3 at 99$ and get the 79$ update...that is a lot of money for me... i am a basement guitarist doing this out of passion, im not a pro in any way...

any idea to get it cheaper?? or any other way you see this?

thanx
