Aren't the ones Andy linked to pretty much exactly like the DDrum Redshot triggers? (not being a dick! Legitimately wondering on the difference and what makes these ones better!) If the wiring from the piezo to the jack is more secure and solid though then they look like a fantastic option, it's DDrum's cheap wiring method that causes them to break all the time :/
No, these are different in a way. the Red Shots use the same blue foam with piezo attached as the DDrum Pros.
IIRC, the drum dial triggers are more like these:
http://drums-percussion.musiciansfriend.com/product/Pulse-TK5-Acoustic-Trigger-5Piece-Set?sku=444658
rubber coated piezo element with a 1/4" cable attached. And then the metal casing is seperate and there is a piece of foam over the top to protect them and I don't believe they use adhesive like the Pulses.
the 3rd pic in that ebay auction shows the elements themselves.
The biggest concern I'd have with using 1/4" trigger jacks would be when I run them straight to my interface. On the Profire 2626, when you use 1/4" line ins, it bypasses the preamps and you cannot adjust the gain of the input. So if these put out a hot signal, you cannot attenuate it on the Profire.
