anyone with expeirence of the zoom recorders

just curious if anyone here has had any experience with the zoom h2 or h4 recorder(esp. metal), my band has money saved up for minimal studio time but we figured this would be a good tool for pre production, and not waste time in a studio, and a good tool for me since i'm the primary riff master,
i've seen the videos on youtube of lamb of god, anthrax etc... just wondering if anyone has had any experience and or any reviews

i've used the H4. Works great on its own, preamps are fine for using external mics. I really used it mostly as an audio interface, it's got ASIO drivers that work fine.

I have only used them for grabbing FOH sound. I found the electrets on the H4 to sound alright actually, very low noise surprisingly.

They are simple as fuck to use as well.

The H2 is pretty well known for being shockingly good at its price point.

I did find it hard to get low latencies when using it as an interface....... i was only recording instrument solo though so i wasn't really trying tthat hard

yea we have 1 in college. there kinda crappy to be honest. when i need to record something quick without setting up mics etc i just crack out my old school tape recorder.
