I also have a Rebel, that's been hopped up a bit. It has the dual battery pack and this is the lens I use for bands. It's a Tamron 28mm-105mm it's f2.8 the whole zoom range. I rentedthe coparable image stabilization lens when this was in the shop and this shoots better in low light but focuses slower. Takes a lot to turn that barrel. My ?? - 300 zoom in an IS lens and I love it.

I survived my experience with GWAR last night. I should have taken up some people on bets that I couldn't get close enough to get decent shots without getting seriously spooged. I did feel a bit like a journalist in downtown Baghdad, ducking and shooting. Other than a little splash on my arms I am unscathed. I tried washing this stuff off last night and it's not coming off. Keep that in mind when you see how soaked people are in the pictures. I wonder how many had day jobs to go to! If you look at the pictures there is one early on of 3 black, 50 gallon tanks. Those contained the simulated bodily fluids that rained down on the audience for an hour and a half. Love them or hate them you have to admit they do up the theatrics like no other band. And I believe they make all their own props. Before you go look I will give same warning that was posted at the door:
