Gratefully, my band, Apothys, has snagged this brutal show and will be opening for Ensiferum/ Turisas. This show will be on the 28th of April at Jaxx Night Club in West Springfield, VA. Directions to Jaxx are on our website. If you wish to help us promote this show, there are flyers in the download section for you to print out. We should have merchandise and a promo CD out by then. So get ready to be crushed by pagan lords from the north!

Congratulations man.

I can't help you promote since I don't live in America, but good luck anyways.

Yeah, we got some hell from a club owner who is a hardcore SG-1 Fan. He asked me where we got our name from and I told him we made it up. Then he erupted and he said, "No! I'm sorry, but Apothys is a character from the StarGate TV show on the sci-fi network! You are incorrect!". Then I calmly replied, "well, I can see completely how you are misled, but the character from stargate is spelt 'Apophis' and is a complete different entity." I believe they both might be pronounced the same way though. Apophis is also an asteroid that potentially may hit the Earth in 2029. I hear iit is pronounced "Apothis". Small world.

Congratulations guys.

Apophis (or Apepi) is also the Ancient Egyption serpent Demon of Chaos.

EDIT: That's were stargate got the name from; Stargate being heavily influenced by Egyptology.

Yeah its interesting stuff. I definitely did research in 2004 before we chose the name. The name Apothys was just a random bunch of letters that I liked. I saw the words Apotheosis, Apophis, Apothecary and they all have somewhat cool meanings. So the name stuck. We'll be releasing a new song every friday between now and Paganfest. Check em out and tell us what you think!
