Man, negativity abounds.
I'm a fervent AE fan, and a fan of Angela era MUCH MUCH more than Johan, mainly because I think Angela is a better fit for the band and I like her vocals better.
When you have a history like Arch Enemy, I'd cal it something far different than "being on your last legs" to do something like this. If anything, to me, it reinforces the idea that "Hey, Angela is here, and we aren't going anywhere." It seems like Arch Enemy's fanbase is firmly planted in pre and post Angela camps, and the production values of the old albums are not to the standard they have today. The fact that they did this in between studio releases to me is a sign that they still value the history of their old material, but want to bring it a new life with their current lineup, and PERHAPS try to bridge the gap between the 2 sides of their history. To me that's not a negative. Whether or not fans will accept it in a positive light remains to be seen...I, for one, prefer to look at it like that rather than completely shit on it.
AS a dude who plays in a band, there are many times I think to myself "man, I wish I could go back and re-do these songs today. I think they could sound really good." With a band like AE who has a chance to do it, I'm jealous!
